Paris-Munich: Day Nine

There isn't terribly much to write about this day, because most of it was spent in travel! The morning began with a last breakfast with Catherine, our Airbnb host, who once again had so many pastries and baguette that we brought the leftovers with us on the train.

We had decided to take the train to Munich, because after thinking about how much time would be spent getting to the airport, flying, and then getting into Munich, the time would be equal to that of the train, and the train station was only a 15 minute from where we were in Paris and where we were going to be staying in Munich. Also...we both kinda had a stereotype in our minds that German trains run on time.

There was one place we had to change trains, and we only had a ten minute connection, but it seemed like it would be fine, if our first train was on time...welll...you can guess what happened. In the end, our first train ended up being 30 minutes delayed, first when it waited on another train for a connection, and then on the track when there was a mechanical problem up ahead. The conductors said our tickets were still valid for a later train to Munich, so we felt okay. Getting off the train at Stuttgart, I wanted to visit the ticket counter, because the trains have assigned seats. Well...there were no seats available on the next train, but the person said we could still get on it and sit on the floor, in the aisles, wherever. As we were waiting, I remembered that the food car usually has seats, so we waited there for it and we got to sit! It wouldn't have been fun standing for two and half hours.

Once in Munich, it was after 6pm so we only had time for dinner and ice cream. Today we are going to do a walking tour and then wander around outside. The weather has been so good to us, but tomorrow that looks like it will change, so our plan is to do outdoor things today and then museums tomorrow (and we learned there is a T. Rex to visit here!).

Since I feel weird about not adding pictures to a post, I'll just put some Paris pictures here.
