Departure Day!

I figured the best way to start a new year off on the right track would be to visit a new country...so I'm waiting at the airport to board my flight to London, which has a four day layover in Iceland! Icelandair has a great deal where you can extend a layover for up to seven days, so I'm taking advantage of that on my way back to my favorite city.

The plans for Iceland are all set in stone; London is going to be much more a go-with-the-flow type thing, though there are a few things I want to do!

So here's the Iceland itinerary:

-Thursday, 2 Jan: Land at 6:40am, bus to hostel, drop off luggage, find a map of Reykjavik, and set off to explore three or four museums and do some shopping.

-Friday, 3 Jan: depart on a two day tour to Jokurlason, stopping along the way at various sights (black sand beach! glacier! waterfalls! Northern lights hunting if the sky is clear

-Saturday 4 Jan: Still on previous tour...Northern lights hunting if the sky is clear

-Sunday 5 Jan: Golden Circle Tour: geothermal power plant, geysirs, hot springs, waterfalls, gorgeous scenery

-Monday 6 Jan: Visit the Blue Lagoon; fly to London at 5pm

And then I'll be in London from 7-12 Jan, flying home at 5pm with a quick one hour stop back in Reykjavik and then onwards to Boston!
